Last week I flew with the two babies to SC where we spent a week in my home state. It was wonderful. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we were at Bebo and Happy's house. Even though Carolina decided to get up and have 8 major diapers in one night ( I got so tired of walking to the kitchen to trash them that I started throwing them aimlessly into the hallway) we had a grand ole' time.

Friday, I drove to Charleston for the main event, Lindy's wedding. I cried all the way to Blythewood because I didn't like leaving the babies, but dried up just in time to enjoy the ride. When I got to Charleston, my entourage (sethie and giz) helped me to the Sunglass hut to pick out a Ray Ban Aviator treat.
That night, we had dinner with Alexis and Shambo and got to see good ole' Calvin Taylor Band. The rickshaw ride home provided a sing out for the lucky ones...
Saturday, we met Trey and Molly, Thomas and Parker, Sethie and Glenn at the farmer's market then we were off to Kickin' Chicken. Delish as usual.
Beth and I wondered in to Affordables where I got the cutest dress you've ever seen...pics to come.
AS for the wedding.....
Whew....it's exhausting to think of the details my little chicken put in to her wedding. It was wonderful to see all our old friends...Lindy, Molly, Erin, Anna, Carey, Melissa & Herbert...not to mention Ms. Eustis and Mr. & Mrs. Williamson. The time of catching up wasn't NEARLY long enough! I think I may have needed a few extra days, some good beach time, and a cooler. Next trip!!
Here are the exquisite wedding details in a flash:
•She got married at the Governor Thomas Bennett House, so the ceremony was outside. She had a huge tent for dancing, and dinner tables, but it wasn't seated.
•There were three bars....the first one was upstairs on the porch. They served mint juleps in mason jars with handles....on the jars they printed their wedding logo that was on the invitation. It was an L and a J that formed a 4 leaf clover...very cute. I'm attaching it. The glasses were used as "gifts" from the bride.
•The other bars only served beer and wine but it was cool beer....from where they have lived. Fat Tire, and Mothership (or something like that). I'll tell you, since it was so hot, the beer got heavy and people wanted something lighter after a while.
•There was another bar set up in this little bushes nook. It was called "O'Ghallager's" (his last name) and served this special drink he and his family drink called Sprout or something....also in the bushes they had Corn Hole Board games set up with their school colors and people were going nuts over them. Apparently these things are the hottest thing going at tail gates these days.
•She and jack have collectively lived in 8 states...so the wedding was themed around that. While they were getting pictures made, and people were sipping on mint juleps, there were appetizer stations inside the house. One was fruit and cheese and a chocolate fountain with pretzels, marsh mellows, etc. One was "Georgia peaches" wrapped in prosciutto. One was SC palmetto pimento cheese sammies.
•Once the pictures were taken, everyone headed to the tent. On all the bar highs, she had little tins with boiled peanuts in them. People were going nuts over those.
•There were 3 food tables, all marked by vintage post cards (which her save the date was the vintage post card that says "greetings from Charleston"...you know the one?
•the 1st table was California: It had a guy there wrapping fresh sushi right in front of you. The other guy at the table was deep frying lobster tail on skewers. Delish.
•The 2nd table was the SC table. Sweet potato succotash, BBQ sliders, and the best shrimp and grits you ever tasted.
•the 3rd table was Arizona (where they live now) and they had corn frittatas with fresh beef and pulled pork. The food was outstanding to say the least.
•They danced to some Jackson 5 song, and instead of having people sign an picture of them, they had the actual record of the song framed and people signed it. Very cool idea.
•The couple apparently loves to play scrabble, so instead of having the food on little cards like you usually see, they were spelled out in scrabble pieces. "mac and cheese" or whatever. That was really cute too. Even the pictures of their families' weddings had the dates in scrabble pieces.
•They had a table set up of all post cards, addressed to their new home, and everyone filled them out and put them in a little mail box so that when they get home from the honeymoon they'll have a bunch of cute mail.
•Her colors were light grey and green...and she wore the cutest green shoes under her mother's wedding dress from 1965. She wore one of those net pieces like Reese Witherspoon in sweet home Alabama. And she was a DOLL.
•Her triplet girl nieces walked down the isle dragging their brother in a red wagon that had a sign on the back that said "here comes the bride...." That was precious.
•She picked different bouquets for each bridesmaid and wrote them a letter explaining why she picked it. On each bouquet she attached a picture of her and the bridesmaid.
•They had the rehearsal reception at the American Cinema Grill where they showed their wedding video on the big screen...even had a movie poster outside for them!
•The welcome bags-super cute. They made a mini cook book using 8 recipes from the 8 states where they have lived collectively. They used those vintage cards in the cookbook. They also had Charleston Chews, a sweet grass rose, a bag of shrimp and grits, and beene seed wafers. The bags were green with their clover logo.
•Her daddy passed away right after we got out of school.....so they saved him a seat and she put flowers down on it when she walked past. (talk about something that will tear you up!!!)
Crazy detail, right? It was fun for all, trust me. Just not quite long enough.....

As for the rest of the visit....
I got home on Sunday to Chester, took a 2 hour nap with the babies, then Monday we went to see Pappaw and Nana, came home, napped, then went to see Mr & Mrs. Hamilton. Then, mom's lasagna, Uncle "Jelly" (Joey) and bed time. Tuesday, back on the plane! (all pictures to come....)
Not to mention the story of loosing my car for 2 hours at the Houston airport. Glory Be. Check back with us....
