The Great Paint Debackle of 2010

Ahhh yes....one day old men will be sitting in barber shops, drinking coffee and saying "remember the great paint debackle of 2010?" They'll slap their knees and recall how that Sullivan girl (You know...she's not from around here....) painted NO LESS than 12 color samples on the walls of her home, all in hopes of finding the perfect shade of blue.

They'll talk about how her husband had ruffled feathers (or hair depending on how you look at it) every night when he came home only to be greeted by one more color on the wall.

"You'd have thought she was turning her home into a rainbow coalition, I tell you!", they'll say.

The first picture, above, is the way our entry looks now, after it was painted a beautiful shade of Sherwin Williams "Northstar"....mathing it's darker sister at the back of the house "Krypton".

This is our bedroom now...minus our pretty bedding and night stands. The nightstands are from my Charleston apartment and are being "repurposed" at the moment to match our other furniture. This shade of blue is called "icicle"....ahhh...so yummy.

Ahem. This was our bedroom before. Let me just name those blues for ya...

We have: Northstar, Rhinestone, Icicle, Lazy Gray, Olympus White (almost a winner!) and Reflection.

Nice, huh?

These two are how Patton's room looks now. We painted his Northstar as well, and added this nice little airplane decal (www.potterybarnkids.com) It's cool because you can tell them to spell out anything you want! We picked "Adventure"....and added a palm tree to make the whole thing seem like it was outside. He had a little boathouse decal coming too...life on an island!

This was Pattons' room before....in all the shades of blue.

This was the kicker, I think. On the wall of our entry way, we had:

2 shades of yellow (Friendly Yellow, and Vital Yellow)

and several shades of blue: Reflection, northstar, Olympus white, and.......Sapphire...the dark one. What you don't know is the dark blue covers up the kicker which was called "fireworks" and was as red as the day is long.

Todd's reaction was "do the people at Sherwin Williams think you're NUTS?"

Um...yes. What of it?

"You want our children coming home to ANGRY RED????"

That pretty much took red out of the running...

I am happy to announce I am done with paint! Sherwin Williams, rest assured....you will not see me again for AT LEAST a month or two....
