Well, Todd and I were off to a wedding last night and Patton had a new babysitter. She wasn't exactly NEW...as she used to babysit for Ella ages ago. She was great with him and mommy and daddy headed off to dance the night away.
I asked her if she wouldn't mind texting me when he fell asleep. She said "sure" so I waited until around 9 or so and when I still hadn't heard from her I sent her a message. She never responded. So I waited a while longer and called.
A man answered and it sounded like he was at a.............PARTY!
"Is this (babysitter's) phone?" He said yes it was and that she'd left it in his car when he dropped her off at my house.
So...there I sat, a fresh plate of yummy wedding food before my pregnant belly, a glass full of cranberry and soda spritzer and cake that hadn't been cut....knowing now that the person watching my baby boy had no phone, no car, and no land line to call us in case of emergency.
Pretty much, the fun was sucked out from there on...even though the party was fabulous and the bride was gorgeous! We waited for the cake, had ourselves a good dance, and off we went. Of course, everything was fine when we got here.
How did our parents do it????
Song of the day, in honor of the only song we danced to:
"September" by Earth Wind and Fire
I've gotta say, ya'll look fabulous -- you too, Kell!
