Boy oh Boy was it a special night on Saturday. La King's Confectionery is FINALLY opened once again after Hurricane Ike swept through...melting ice cream and hearts alike. The store, which is on the strand, and is a fixture in Galveston history, is packed with candies, salt water taffy (being made right before your eyes) ice cream, and malts. Patton's daddy LOVES the malts.
Check them out: http://www.galveston.com/laking/
The Bean picked out a flavor called "Caramel Torture" (that's not how it's pronounced or spelled...but should be for all it's worth...) which consisted of vanilla ice cream, fudge sauce, and little Rollo type candies mixed in. Oh my stars was it YUMMY. He liked sticking his tounge out and sampling the goods.
Other than that, we've been light on the posts...mommy's hands are a bit full since Patton is in to ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. Where I used to be able to put toys on the floor of my office and get things done...no more. He will eat anything he can get his hands on, including your shoes if you let him, which means a watchful eye is always neccessary.
Mommy hasn't been sleeping well and there are several reasons for the insomnia. One is that her dreams are so vivid and full and lively (and hysterical...think "getting chased by the guy from Roots, holding a gun that shoots fireworks, and searching for fish wrapped in prime beef") that she's exhausted when she wakes up. Also, new baby likes to have dance parties at odd times....and speaking of New Baby, there's lots to do before he or she makes an appearance.
For this reason, we compiled "the anxiety list" which has things on it like ordering new furniture for Patton's big boy room (check! Did that yesterday!), getting a bigger car (P's carseat doesn't fit in mine), putting up shutters instead of blinds (because babies are facinated with blinds and they are a choking hazzard) etc. Busy times!
We'll make it...we always do. ;)
Wish we could be there!
