The ladies in waiting with our guests of honor...
Ask, and you shall receive....Attached is a picture of all the "Ladies in waiting" (girls who threw the party) with Will and Kate. Beth, you were missed!!!
As parties go, it started with a bang because the invitations Hayley sent out were exact replicas of the actual ones they sent. Several girls thought they had received the "golden ticket"...until they saw our names listed on the invite.
After suggesting hats and wedding attire, the stage was set for a soiree of the decade. We sent out 100 invites and had 65 girls at the party.
As guests arrived, they each were greeted by a framed picture of Will and Kate, and bling rings placed in a Waterford bowl. Ladies arrived and I was impressed because they went ALL OUT, dressing as though they were attending the actual wedding. Hats, shoes, gloves, the WORKS. Most people took off work the entire day.....which was good since they were also given Cham Chams as they walked in. (champagne with raspberries)
The royal fete' included pimento cheese finger sandwiches, chicken salad with bruchetta-like crackers, a "brilliant" cucumber soup, and a fabulous fruit display.
We also had cake balls in flavors such as lemon coconut, peanut butter cup, vanilla, and triple chocolate. They were adorned with fondant red phone booths, ring replicas, crowns, shoes, and glitter. They were PRECIOUS and DELICIOUS.
After guests had high tea from 2-3, we escorted them into the viewing room, where 65 gold chairs awaited (in row fashion complete with flowers tied to the isle seats, and reserved seats for the ladies in waiting, front row of course). A projector broad casted the DVR-DVDed BBC version ( so we could be surrounded by British accents) of the wedding onto a huge wall. Guests oohed and ahhed as we watched Kate in her car, gorgeous, along with sister, Pippa (also a knock out)....will and Kate as they exchanged vows....we read lips ("you look beautiful") etc. Squeals of joy abounded as they kissed...twice.
I, myself, had not seen one single minute of it so I could save it for the reception...and it was so fun! It was also fun making my "fascinator" with supplies bought for $10 at Hobby Lobby. Todd endured the black feather and cream tulle disaster that ended with our bedroom looking like a scene after a transvestite fight:)
This morning, it turns out we made the front page of the Galveston Daily News. What a party. Everyone was in SUCH GREAT SPIRITS and looked divine.
I wish all of you could have been there!!! A truly magical afternoon.
